he is mad

Who? Eriksson that’s who.

Let it go Sven. If the team is good enough to make it to the last 16, why change it and introduce a guy who is not match fit?!

If he does take Rooney, who do we have up front?

Owen - could break down again. Not match fit.
Walcott - could be an awesome gamble, but he is really an unknown.
Crouch - lacks confidence, not proven. But I do like him.
Rooney - injured.

Sven must sacrifice a midfileder, say Jenas or Carrick, and bring in Bent or Defoe. How Bent is not in the squad I just don’t know.

Say Crouch gets injured! That would be a strike force 10-7.

How I see England’s WC:

Draw with Paraguay, lose to T&T and beat the Swedes. Meet Germany in the second round and go out on pens.

Anyway. I am so excited.

need to go home

So tired. Need to go home but it’s only 10am. Why? You know why:

In one of the most heart-racing, topsy-turvy finales to a Sevens tournament in recent memory, England beat Fiji in the dying seconds here 26-24 to take the Cathay Pacific/ Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens

What a game. What a day!

the urn

Bit tired this morning due to being out in the pub watching the fight for the urn.

Here it is:

And here’s who has it now:

For the first time in 18 years.

What a series. I think Her Majesty put it best:

This has been a truly memorable series and both sides can take credit for giving us all such a wonderfully exciting and entertaining summer of cricket at its best. My warmest congratulations to you, the England cricket team and all in the squad for the magnificent achievement of regaining the Ashes.

Caspar The Aussie is most gracious in defeat:

Congratulations to all you English boys. You have all Aussies eating humble cricket pie for the first time in years, and although we can still hold our heads high we know we were outplayed in every aspect of the series. Your batting and bowling were far better than ours, and you played like a team united and destined for a cause.

The best team won. Now make the most of the celebrations, because we’ll be chasing you down in two years on our turf. Here’s to a great series.
