a song of fire and ice

Bit late on this one:

HBO has acquired the rights to turn George R.R. Martin’s bestselling fantasy series “A Song of Fire & Ice” into a dramatic series

I hope it’s awesome, because the books are. You don’t have to be massively into fantasy literature to enjoy this series. It’s awesome. Trust me:

Martin’s series has drawn comparisons to J.R.R. Tolkien, because both are period epics set in imagined lands. But Martin has eschewed Tolkien’s good-vs.-evil theme in favor of flawed characters from seven noble families.

The book has a decidedly adult bent, with sex and violence comparable to series like “Rome” and “Deadwood.”

coming up

Coming soon to this site, especially for this museum-grade cock-shiner, a sound recording of my car’s engine.

[Just kidding, I just wanted to use museum-grade and cock-shiner in the same sentence]

hip/waist ratio news

Jessica Alba, the film actress, has the ultimate sexy strut, according to a team of Cambridge mathematicians.

The academics found that it is the ratio between hips and waist that puts the sway into a woman’s walk - and the nearer that ratio is to 0.7, the better.

This ratio provides the body with the right torso strength to produce a more angular swing and bounce to the hips during the walking motion.

Therefore, a woman with a 25in waist and 36in hips would have just the right proportions to carry off a sexy swagger as she walks.

Private Dancer Doris is a 0.72 (36/26). Booowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

OK. I so want to get back into this sheeeeeet. Loads to talk about.

Anyone checked out Reverend and the Makers? Only good. Great lyrics.

hong kong blogs review review

Sorry, been busy. And lazy.

Have just found this though, The Hong Kong Blogs Review page.

He doesn’t like to judge (doesn’t mind stealing from Martin Luther King though):

Here is the bottom line: Hong Kong is Sham-Shui-Po boy’s home where he was born and his forebears were buried and lately have been cremated. He judges his guests on this land not by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their individual character, deeds, behavior, and by their words; as he’d like to be judged if he’s at their home.

but he does like to insult:

Most of these bloggers, for lack of better word, can be described as carpetbaggers of one sort or another.

His guests? WTF? Imagine saying that somewhere else!

Here’s my review of his review page:

If you are nice about HK all the time, know nice places to eat local food, know all about the politics of HK or have married a local, then your blog is good.

However, if you have ever said a bad word about HK, or taken the piss, or talked about your car, or like sex, then your blog is “sarcastic and arrogant”, the “bottom of the barrel” and you’re a “social climber” living a lifestyle that you “cannot afford back home”.

I’m not going to attempt to defend myself, instead, I’ll just point out that referring to yourself in the third person constantly is a sign of narcissism:

The terms “narcissism”, “narcissistic” and “narcissist” are often used as pejoratives, denoting vanity, conceit, egotism or simple selfishness. Applied to a social group, it is sometimes used to denote elitism or an indifference to the plight of others.

Oh hello Mr. Pot!
