I travel to the US a lot, I’m American and my wife French, so we go in the American line (it’s shorter). It’s fun to get an immigration official with a sense of humor and I must admit it’s about 50/50 chance of getting one. They always ask me stuff like, “What do you do in France?” and I reply “I work”. That usually gets them going. “What are you doing in the US?” “Vacation”. I think one must be pretty creative to come up with good responses for conversations like that.
