So tired. Need to go home but it’s only 10am. Why? You know why:
In one of the most heart-racing, topsy-turvy finales to a Sevens tournament in recent memory, England beat Fiji in the dying seconds here 26-24 to take the Cathay Pacific/ Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens
What a game. What a day!

FFS — Some total tnuc has put a 7pm meeting in my calendar!

A great weekend indeed.
But a suggestion for the organisers. You poms will like it, because you can start your celebrations on Friday morning in future.
Step 1. Creat a fourth major title. Name it the “Touch Judges’ Choice” award.
Step 2. Award the new title to the poms before the tournament starts. That will save time and a lot of aggravation.
Step 3. Let the remaining teams play for the other three titles as per usual schedule.
Hmmm … now where is the borocca … my head still hurts like hell.
I’d alter that slightly to have Fiji and England only ever play each other. Would make for better rugby all-round.
And kick out China. Bad sports, that lot.
Yeah, I said we seemed to have bought the draw, we definitely had the easier half, then after the 1/4 it seemed we had also bought the touch judge and ref! That was a close one, but rules are rules!
The ref gave the Kiwis a lot of time at the end of their game against Japan though.
After seeing Fiji in their semi, I didn’t think England had a chance.
Wht did China do? Except dress up like they work for DHL. I think I remember a punch against Taipei maybe?
I’m soooo light headed, aching and just generally knackered. I’m interviewing someone at 7pm. I will be so impressive.
think yourself lucky…My vocal chords are history!
I sound like kevin sinclair today…
Vocal chords just starting to return, I’m disappointed, I quite liked husky me!
There was a punch in the Taipei game, but I’ve been told it was Taipei doing the delivery. That said, I’m certain it was earned. Bottom line is that all the other teams - after knocking a fellow (or a lass for that matter) down - would help each other up and give a quick acknowledgement that no harm was intended either way. China was having none of that collegiate attitude and it showed.
I’m all for teams taking the game seriously, but China just doesn’t get it. Rugby *is* fun - a socially sanctioned way for boys (and girls) to knock each other about. When every tackle is taken as a *personal* affront, well, that’s just stupid.
Question: during one of the Fiji games (I think on Sunday), a lad was carried off with what looked like a broken arm. Anyone know which team and how serious it was?
yes, the fiji guy just before the final whistle.
So, who had the best box?
