Anyone know why this sort of moon is so rare?

Erm, because normally people dont take photos with their cameras held sideways?

Dont know. The precession of the vernal perihelion perhaps? With some equinox thrown in for good measure?

Very rare. Only coupla times a month. You just gotta lie on a tropical beach more consistently and look up from your pina colada every few weeks…

    Camera wasn’t sideways. I wasn’t lying down.

I’m convinced I’ve never see the illuminated part at the ‘bottom’ of the moon before.

I saw it in HK, too and I’ve never seen it before either. Nothing in Wikipedia either.

Hope you enjoyed Bohol as much as I did a couple of years ago. Someone should free that poor bloody snake though.
