xbox 360

Yeah I got one. Anyway, has anyone here in HK tried signing up for Xbox Live? When you choose your ‘Locale’ and Hong Kong, the Xbox says it needs to switch the entire console language into Chinese.

Sooooooooo, I called them up and was asked “Can you just switch to Chinese to complete the sign-up, then switch back to English?” Er, not really, seeing as I cannot read Chinese and have never done this before so cannot memorise the path and fields.

In the end, I set my locale to USA and managed to sign up, even though the address page for entering your credit card details is customised for a US address. I tried random states and zip codes but that didn’t work, however, an address in Mid Levels, Hong Kong, California 90210 did work! Hurrah, I was in and playing against my little brother and chatting to my mum. Great fun.

Call of Duty 2 is amazing.

Oh, and Happy New Year. Check out this nutter. More info here.

xbox 360 has a vision of being the ONLY home entertainment box you’ll ever need. meaning - home entertainment system, cable tv set top box, movie downloads, P2P movie sharing, on demand tv/movie…

its going to be exciting what microsoft will come up with for the xbox 360 over the next few months (esp around PS3’s debut in March).

I got one, it’s awesome. Hooked up to an HD TV and a media center PC (pitch the Tvio), it really does bring the whole house entertainment system together. You can even use your Ipod on it.

How did you get one in HK? Launch isnt for another couple of months there…. Any concerns with getting games if you have a Japan or US conslole?

Yep, got mine hooked up to my HD TV too.

I got a Japanese version. Bit of a pain, as in addition to the large 360 power pack, you need a huge transformer to convert HK 220V to Japan 110V, plus everything in the box is in Japanese.

Regarding the games, most are not region locked or have Japanese versions with full English menus:

Also, the Japanese version is not so backwards compatible with old games, but that doesn’t bother me.
