Nothing new to see here.
I spent the weekend working. 25 hours! The weekend before Christmas! What sort of Scrooge do I work for?! Too many of these !!!!!!!!! I am knackered. Was working until 3am this morning, then a total twat from work called me at 8am. Have to interview someone at 7pm. Is it out of order to rearrange just because I want to go home early?
Did POP round to a mate’s house on Saturday evening, where they were having a festive afternoon and evening. Gutted I missed it. Mulled wine by Gudmond! L.o.v.e.l.y.
After a message from my mum saying to stay in and not go near the riots, we headed to Wan Chai. At first, the cabbie said the nearest he could get was just behind the Bank of China tower, but in the end we got dropped off at the back of the Hopewell Centre on Kennedy Road, then went down to Queen’s Road East.
It was very strange walking over to Lockhart Road. No cars and not that many people. Obligatory photos in the middle of the road and of the riot coppers blocking the way, but it was very easy to get to Devil’s Advocate. I think The White Stag, OCH and Mes Amis were also still open. Everywhere else was closed. Oh, maybe Fenwick’s was open.
Nothing. No action. All we saw were three protesters that came in for a drink and got out their Palm pilots or something, and a couple of rough looking guys with tears streaming from their eyes.
So, still cannot decide on the G5/30in screen, LASIK eye surgery, motorcyle licence and learning to fly
Really don’t need the G5/30in, bit worried about night vision with LASIK, two wheels are dangerous and are we really sure man was meant to fly?! I’ve been checking it out though:
Thank you for your interest in the HK Aviation Club. The next PPL ground theory course will commence 20th February 2005. The fee is HK$5,000 per person includes 34 contact hours on ground theory, one hour flight simulator with instructor and half hour trial introductory flight in aircraft with instructor (either fixed wing or helicopter).
Does sound interesting though. Topics studied include:
Principles of Flight
Radio Telephony
Navigation
Human Performance
Air Law
Air Frame & Aero Engine
Aviation Meteorology
Airworthiness
Aircraft Instruments

Not sure where I was told this but there is a bell ringing when you mention LASIK and pilot’s licence in the same sentence, like its not allowed.
Of course I might just be talking rot and dreamt the whole thing, who knows!!!
Should that be 20th February 2006?
probably.
Avoid eye surgery if you want a PPL. It’ll figure against you massively for any medical requirements and many quacks will refuse you the medical. Stick with specs or contacts.
All the basic flight rules and classes are easy enough if you pay attention and have a decent instructor. Just take your time and study the books and you can’t go wrong (make sure you focus on the radio telephony, air law and meteorology parts too!).
SEE!!!!!!!! I didn’t just dream it.
Cheers for the info re LASIK and flying. I’m thinking of taking the trial intro flight (around 2k) … see if I like it or if I sheeeeet myself!
Will save my cash for the Shaky Cessna.
“Shaky Cessna on runway alpha one four, you are cleared for take off …. ”

No how far is it from HK to The Philippines?
Go for a Piper instead, Mate. Cheaper with all the options and smoother flying too.
Of course, you could go whole hog if you win the lottery and go for a Gulfstream jet but then you’re talking extra 0’s on the end !
Human Performance and Aviation Law are a piece of piss - do em first!!! Reckon you will love the meteorology section, just a guess as know your fascination with science and nature! By the way, feckin polar bears CAN swim….. Thats the only nature interest i have had lately. Still blown away by this. All brought about cos of a TOTALLY random conversation with Gunther senior who complained that “showing polar bears drowning on the news cos of global warming was ‘un-chrismassy’” Needless to say i was up for hours researching. NEVERTHELESS - do the ppl or atleast an intro flight - it will be amazing. Reckon you will love it ! Remember - watch out for “the hun in the sun” - just kidding. I love the germanians.
