I love them.
I’m trying to put together a list for each day of Advent. Need 24. So far I have:
It’s a Wonderful Life
The Polar Express
Miracle on 34th Street
Scrooged
The Night They Saved Christmas
Die Hard (love the Run DMC tune at the start)
White Christmas
The Santa Clause
All I Want For Christmas
Santa Clause The Movie
Family Man
Blackadder’s Christmas Carol
Home Alone
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
One Magic Christmas
Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas
I either have these already, or will be poppoing to a DVD shop before Dec. to get.
Any other top tips?

Old favourite… “Yes Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus”. About a washed up journallist that tries to top himself as he’s lonely at Christmas. In the end the Christmas spirit wins him over (as it always does). Pretty heavy going for the kiddies but a good flick nonetheless.
better than movies is the Boobies for Peace advent calander http://www.musthavetoys.com/advent/
“A Christmas Story” (you’ll put your eye out!)
“Home for the Holidays”
“Bad Santa”
also: Santarchy!
And the Grinch, with his grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow,
Stood puzzling and puzzling: “How could it be so?
It came without ribbons! It came without tags!
“It came without packages, boxes or bags!”
And he puzzled three hours, `till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before!
“Maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store.
“Maybe Christmas…perhaps…means a little bit more!”
I actually prefer Die Hard 2 for that overall Christmassy glow. Lots and lots of snow, big jackets, guns, and “Let it Snow” at the end.
‘The Grinch who stole Christmas’
Bad Santa yes - but make sure to buy the unrated, Badder Santa version. Splendido.
And since you have Black Adder in there already, then I feel you absolutely should not miss Alan Partridge’s Knowing Me, Knowing Yule.
Home Alone?
Good lord, it actually got my country right for once! No longer an escargot scoffer!
Godammit, I spoke too soon…
What about “the Ref”?
whats the name of the movie (pretty old), where 3 guys break out in prison on an island (british colony?? / carribean, africa??) and then spend their time with a family who own a small shop? one of the guys always carries around a small basket with a small snake….and they try to get on a ship to get away from the island…..
Dennis Leary is funny, isn’t he?
[Gus on the phone with a bartender]
Gus: Look, just see if there’s a Murray there.
Bartender: [to the patrons] Is there a Murray here?
[Into the phone]
Bartender: I don’t think so.
Gus: See if there’s a waste of f*cking life named Murray, try that.
Bartender: [to the patrons] Is there a f*cking waste of life named Murray here?
Murray: Gussy? Yeah that’s me.

Caroline: How can we both be in the marriage and I’m miserable and you’re content?
Lloyd: Luck?
If you’re going to have Die Hard then you should have Lethal Weapon. Silent Night, Deadly Night and Black Chistmas if you want horror movies for the festive season.
amazon women on the moon (good for any occasion)
Sleepless in Seattle?
There is Home Alone I, II, III… That would at least put your list up to 18
Qwerty: that was We’re No Angels; 1955 with Humphrey Bogart, Aldo Ray and Peter Ustinov. Remade (nowhere as good) in 1989 with Robert DeNiro and Sean Penn.
E@L
Does anyone know of an old Christmas movie where a woman meets a man and falls in love then she has to tell him she’s on leave from prison and has to return after Christmas?
