the police

This story from Madame Chiang reminded me of a visit me and a mate got from the police just before I moved to HK.

A couple of young policemen knocked on our door and asked to come in. They were going house-to-house asking where everyone was at 10pm the night before as there had apparently been an axe murder outside our house. Nice area.

Mate: “We were in the gym, sweating like rapists.”
Me: “Er, mate ….. yes we were in the gym downstairs.”

Few more questions and then:

Copper: “Is that a Playstation 2?”
Me: “Yes.” …. wondering where this was going …..
Copper: “Can I have a go?”

They stayed for about half an hour, then thought they had better be off. A few minutes after they left, another knock on the door, one of the coppers …. back for his helmet!

Me: “Glad to see we’re in good hands!”

  1. 1 Beijing Brit  your flag — China (definitely maybe)

Can you elaborate on the Mme Chiang story? The link has been blocked in the Motherland - something to do with Mme Chiang once being married to a certain Taiwanese Nationalist leader. Oh yes, the BBC is always blocked too. Bloody commies.

    Mme Chiang said:

My heart just skipped a few beats….my door bell rang and when I opened it there were two policemen standing there….in my experience that is never good news…..

They were supervising my building’s management team telling all residents to get their window frames checked….apparently some windows have fallen out of my building, although this article from The Standard does not mention my building.

So they finished their spiel, turned to leave, I tried to shut the gate and it fell of its runner and belted one of the policemen on his head……he was very charming and helped me replace it back on it’s runner, but his head must have really hurt!
