The Mandarin?
The Peninsula?
Eu Yan Sang? (Chinese medicine shop in Causeway Bay that pays $338,000 a month rent)
House on The Peak?
Nope. It’s this photo booth in the Airport Express station:

Why? Take a look inside:

[bigger version here]
Did some comparisons. Cost per minute:
My house = 0.524765943
Mandarin suite = 2.08
Peninsula cheapo suite = 2.78
Eu Yan Sang = 7.71
The photo booth = 100
That’s about HK$ 52.6 million a year!
Per minute per sq. foot would be an interesting graph. By ‘interesting’ I mean ‘totally geeky’.
Pay in advance? Who do you pay!? How do you know how long you are going to be there?
I was trying to use the booth, but pressed the wrong thing. There’s no cancel button, so I waited for it to reset itself. Saw that sign, so stood up to wait outside, looking around to see if I was being watched!
The best Lai See ever, Gren Manuel, did something in a similar vein on these booths one time. It could make an interesting case. Does the exemption for photo takers only apply while they are having their photo taken, or does that qualify them as a photo taker for the rest of the day/week/month?
Strictly speaking, in contractual terms (correct me if I’m wrong someone as this is not my area) the “offer” is actually an “invitation to treat” and the visitor could therefore make his own offer (to the booth?), e.g. of 1 cent per hour, which could then be accepted or declined. If declined, there would be no contract as there would not be both offer _and_ acceptance (two of the 3 requirements for formation of a contract).
interesting!! I never notice such wordings inside the machine….but the charging idea is so weird…
