Popped into a Fortress on the way home last night to check out a new mobile phone. Don’t need one, just wanted to try out the Motorola V3, even though I’ve heard the GUI is shite and it would really be a downgrade from what I have at the moment. So I asked to look at one, and the guy gave me a dummy model:
“I’d like to try out a real one, I want to try out the operating system.”
“What? It just has a normal system. Same as all phones.”
You fucking what?! All manufacturers have different systems! Phones from the same manufacturer can have different systems! Do you think I’m going to spend $4000 without trying it out!?
I walked straight out.
he’s clearly been to the same salesman school as my car salesmen from my car purchase fiasco. apparently the idea of trying a product before you buy it is alien in hong kong
Yeah, our cell (sell) phone robots are pretty dumb here too.
One time I asked to see a phone and was handed a dummy by the dummy working there. I then asked to see a real working model and he told me that they don’t have any. I then asked to see the phone on his belt (was the same model I was asking about).
He told me that “store policy” didn’t allow him to show me his phone which was identical to the one I was asking about.
He then tried to close the sale. HA!
Shaky,
It’s a phone mate.
Cheers,
LT
Shaky, I think your mistake is that you have assumed that the market requires the average HK phone punter to know what an o/s is or what functions actually work on the phone. Normally the decision is what hello kitty sticker comes with this or do I get a free rice cooker!!!!
If you’re going to spend that kind of money, why not get a Treo 650?
