From here:
Diary of an English man in Hong Kong. It has a big audience of English in China, but it also attracts because it is rude, arrogant and intolerant.
Rude, arrogant and intolerant?
Sometimes rude, I accept. Intolerant? Only of the habits of people sat near me at work. Arrogant? Me?!

Can’t believe I haven’t read them before. Had to go out and buy some. The MLCCC has stripped bookstores in HK of them!
The Snoop isn’t happy with the LOTR box set as the benchmark:
And we shouldn’t use something as arbitrary as LOTR for our benchmark. I mean….witches and wizards? Prancing ponies? Elves that like dwarves? What’s it all about?
The Gentlemans benchmark should be something up the strasse of The (Sir) Micheal Caine Boxset. This timeless peice weighs in at 3 discs, 351 mins at a trivial cost of $370…..Now what on Middle Earth does that do to the graph?
Well:
and
The Century of Flight box set:
Disc 3 — The Space Race (bonus feature: Helicopters)
Brilliant.
Accidentally bought a few box sets at lunch.
Cracker series one - 364 mins, 3 discs, $375
Murder One - Case one - 1030 mins, 6 discs, $559
A Century of Flight - 502 mins, 4 discs, $238
When I was buying them, I felt the Century of Flight was a bargain.
Got me thinking — what does that look like on a graph? And what should be the benchmark? I tried the LOTR box set, movie only, as the benchmark (6 discs, 681 mins, $780).
Dollars per minute:
Yep. Corroborated. What if I compared price to number of discs, “what does it do to the graph?!” I hear you cry!

Again, Cracker performs the worst.
It looks like LOTR is an easy benchmark to beat. If you add in the other six discs, I wonder what happens to the graph? Do you?!
That’s better.
