old MT archives back

Well, it’s not exactly how I’d like it, but now all my old individual post archives are back and will redirect you to the WP version.

I had generated them with the /shaky URL in mind, but then I changed my mind. I’d filled the /blog dir with WP files, so I didn’t want to regenerate them. So, a bit of sed:

for file in */*/*/*.html
do
sed -e 's/www\.shakykaiser\.com\/shaky/www\.shakykaiser\.com/blog/g' < $file > $file.new
done

[Thanks to Mr. W for the sed help there]

Then I needed to strip the .new off. I couldn’t use basename without going into each directory, so:

for file in */*/*/*.new
do
mv $file $( echo $file | awk '{ print substr($0,0,(length-4))}')
done

Heh, that one was all mine.

So geeeeeeekery over I hope, and all old links from other people’s pages and Google should work. Just means I have to keep all those old files around which is a pain.

Anyway, that’ll do.

Lovely Chinese Doris From New York is in London too.

Off for drinks with her sometime this week so that nothing can happen again.

blu-ray

I can’t believe I’d never heard of Blu-ray, the next-generation optical disc format:

The format was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition television (HDTV). Blu-ray makes it possible to record over 2 hours of HDTV, or more than 13 hours of SDTV on a 27GB disc. There are also plans for higher capacity discs that are expected to hold up to 54GB of data.

Blu-ray is expected to replace VCRs and current DVD technology within a few years. The format is also likely to become a standard for PC data storage and high-definition movies in the future.

gentleman’s relish

Was watching “The World’s Worst Jobs” on TV last night. There were a lot of horrid jobs, but the worst as far as I was concerned was the guy that had to clean the sex show peep show booths:

“You get to see the girls dancing, but unfortunately you have to clean up the previous occupant’s “Gentleman’s Relish

Lovely.

jean cheri

Just heard on the TV that John Kerry is being criticised for being “French-looking” - good Lord. It’s the first I heard of it, but it’s been around for a while. I have been ignoring it all though. However, I saw some footage of a young Kerry, and I reckon he looks like the dirty cheating son of a cobbler, Michael Schumacher.
