mac network info

Here’s where things don’t look so good. The network utility tells me my IP address is 192.168.100. Fine, I don’t need that. But when I try to ping:

Ping has started ...
PING www.apple.com.akadns.net (17.112.152.32): 56 data bytes

10 packets transmitted, 10 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 178.589/179.066/180.83 MS

But:

Ping has started ...
PING 192.168.2.102 (192.168.2.102): 56 data bytes

So my Mac cannot see my PC, but my PC can see my Mac, so I don’t think it’s hardware related, but, like I said, I’m no network expert, I could be very wrong!

hello pc

Well with the help of this page, my PC can now see my Mac.

UPDATE: Now my PC can’t connect to the Mac. All I did was leave it over night. Does the Mac ‘go to sleep’ I wonder?

i hate css

So I set up a test blog in WordPress and imported this blog and applied the Human Condition style from Iain Main.

I realise it’s a bit thin for some of my old embedded photos, but why does this happen with the blockquotes?

The first one has a <p> tag around the blockquote tag, the second one had the <p> tag inside the blockquote and the last one had no <p> tag, but Wordpress inserted one inside the blockquote.

The stylesheet is here.

A morning of geeking is turning into a day long headache.

mt 3.0D is shit

Right. Well this is totally screwed. The only reason I wanted to upgrade was for the interface to work in Firefox. It doesn’t. At least not for me.

I removed MTBlacklist and got some emails from comments, but not all and the comment templates were all screwed up.

So, rollback to 2.6 (I have it all backed up) or WordPress. Oh bugger.

mt 3.0D

Not happy. This is how it looks in Firefox:

mt3.jpg

Also, the upload file window pops up as the wrong size in IE, and I’m currently not receiving email notification of new comments and the Typekey interface isn’t working.

a bit of geeky news

New flaw in IE. Just a shame I still have to use it (poorly designed access portal for work email, it’s the Outlook Web access from MS. It doesn’t render properly in anything but IE on Windows, not even OS X IE)

Call land lines and mobiles from your computer: SkypeOut

€0.012/min to call the UK. That’s about $0.1 HKD/min.

Right. MT 2.6 doesn’t render properly in Firefox or Safari on the Mac, so I’m going to have to upgrade to 3.0D. A nice bit of geekery for a Saturday morning.
