apple

I’m thinking of making “the switch” buying a Powerbook, or do I go for real power? That Powerbook just looks utter class though. If I were a geek, you’d have to call me Omar The Tent-maker.

Not sure why, just fancy a change and I reckon a Mac could do everything I needed it to. Let’s see:

  • email
  • chit-chat
  • web browsing
  • FTP and secure telnet
  • CD ripping and encoding
  • MP3 playback and organisation
  • photo import manipulation and storage
  • file sharing - overnet, kazaa, bittorrent
  • video file conversion (avi -> mpg)
  • DVD authoring
  • DVD burning
  • occasional use of word precessing, spreadsheet etc

Hmmm, playing some games will not be possible, so I’ll have to keep my PC for that, but then, I only play one game a year or something now.

So, any Apple geeks out there got any good info/news sites for me to peruse?

lead and cfcs

Bit of knowledge for you here…..

Thomas Midgley was a smart fella, 170 patents. However, it was his idea to add lead to petrol and to use CFCs in fridges. Looking back, not the best.

“[Midgley]had more impact on the atmosphere than any other single organism in earth history”

the asiaxapt thing

I only wanted to mess with Asiaxpat, not nick anyone else’s traffic, so I’ve removed the general search terms.

footy

Congrats to Crystal Palace, and their fans, who won the First Division playoff final against West Ham. Apart from the Champions League final, this is probably the biggest game in club football, the winners receiving a windfall of around £25m and £30m. A couple of interesting facts: West Ham scored the goal against Wigan on the last day of the season that meant Crystal Palace made it to the playoffs and last December, when Iain Dowie took over Palace, they were down at the bottom of the division, 19th I think. So a pretty amazing story.

Another amazing story, Hong Kong’s Kitchee football club beat AC Milan 2-1!

Aston Villa retained their HK football sevens title, beating Manchester United 2-0.

That’ll do.

asiaxpat googlebomb

Dave’s doing it right.

My apologies for not explaining fully, or rather, not reading the link on how to Googlebomb correctly!

Right, I gotta head out.

Anyone know of a good digital voice recorder that I can get in HK?

So far:

Sony
Olympus
Panasonic

Small enough to lose when drunk.

13yr old guitarist

Check out Trey Tosh playing Voodoo Chile. He’s 13.
