From what I’ve read here I don’t think it’s *attracting* them that causes Shaky so many problems…
Maybe the book needs a sequel
That book should be called: “how to open a can of worms”
Anyway, back to Cryptonomicon: it’s an excellent book about geeks. There are some fantastic comments about the Philipines in there.
The next one “Quicksilver” is also good, although it’s set a few hundred years before Cryptonomicon. See: http://www.nealstephenson.com/, which has unfortunately been afflicted with the ‘moronic web-design’ virus.

Yes, it’s a great book (Cryptonomicon - not the other one). I went out and bought it after seeing Shaky’s recommendation and haven’t bought a newspaper on my way to work since.
