the tube

One reason I’m not in a rush to get back to London. The Tube. I hate it. Managed an entire week in London and didn’t use it once.

Dammit. Remember my bad shoulder, just put it out again ironing my bloody shirt.

oh farpuck it

I won’t sleep anyway. I’ve been doing cold turkey on HK nightlife, so off to the races then JB’s to find an Asian Charlotte Church. Look for the loud shirt.

charlotte

She was on TV back home. I’ve decided I fancy Charlotte Church!

in england’s green and pleasant land!

This is the real England song:

And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England’s mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England’s pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among those dark Satanic mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold
Bring me my arrows of desire
Bring me my spear! Oh, clouds unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire
I will not cease from mental fight
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand
Til we have built Jerusalem
In England’s green and pleasant land!

Did anyone else hear the crowd at the AUS v NZ game singing Swing Lo? Piss funny. For us Poms anyway, the Aussies are not finding it even slightly amusing.

“Enough already. England weren’t even playing on Saturday and you couldn’t go ten minutes without hearing a rendition”

complained the SMH.

No, I do not have any idea why an African-American spiritual song is our anthem. At least it doesn’t promote vagrancy or violence to sheep.

The Australian press have launched yet another attack on “boring” England ahead of Saturday’s World Cup final.

John Eales thinks England will fail.

Don’t you think the Wallabies look a bit like Norwich City? It is yellow right? Not gold? Only messing.

Well, I believe we have the side to win it. Yes, maybe we are boring, but I bet there is not an Aussie on earth who wouldn’t like Wilkinson in their side, and hold on, didn’t Stephen Larkham’s extra-time drop goal get the Wallabies into the final in 1999?

Remember 1991? Australia beat Argentina in their opening game, squeezed past Ireland in the quarters, beat NZ in the semi and then beat England in the final at Twickenham. Hmmm, I hope history will not repeat itself!

So, boring or not, you are going to see some of this on Saturday, and this, (yes, that would be his other foot, and yes, I have my cock out) hopefully a few of these, then at the end, this.

Saying that, all the best to both teams.

update

I made it back safe and sound, despite the guy next to me on the plane coughing and snorting without his hand over his mouth. He stank too and kept swearing and being mean to the lovely Mia.

Oh, and we were delayed at Heathrow. We were taking off just as Bush arrived, so had to wait for him to land and for all the helicopters to clear the area.

Managed to get some sleep on the plane, but not much, so a bit tired. Everyone is off to the races tonight, but not sure I’ll make it. On the plane I watched:

American Wedding - crap.
The Hulk - crap.
Lara Croft II - crap, nice boobs though.

Stayed in the hotel last Friday, was too tired to go out, a bit gee, but I had to get up to watch the rugby and then get a train up north to see the family.

Sunday, got up early to watch the rugby with the family. Come on! Sunday was also an early Christmas Day in our family, as I’m not going home for the real Christmas. Got some nice presents, including Schott’s Original Miscellany. Totally brilliant. Also, Bo Selecta. It’s reet proper bo, I tell thee!

We had Christmas dinner (no sprouts!!! I can’t believe it!) and games etc. Standard family Christmas, just no Queen’s Speech.

Monday went shopping for a load of new shirts. Wanchai should get ready for some nice new loud shirts from the Kaiser!

After the shopping I went to see my estranged sister. Lots and lots of personal family stuff to discuss there, but I’m not going to. I’m the only one she will speak to or let in her house. I think it went quite well, but it will take time for all the pain to subside, then maybe she will return to the fold. So, a pretty emotional night for all. I’ve never seen my Dad or brother cry. I did on Monday.

Still, it was great to see everyone, my other brother and sister came home to see me from afar and I saw my niece. She’s 10 now and I’m sad I’m missing her grow up. I’m going to get them out here next year though.

Mum fed me up all weekend, so now I think I am officially the heaviest I have ever been. The gym is going to get it, er, next week!

So, Dorae update.

Chinese Doris in London, nope, nothing happened there. Unrequited desire.
33yr old virgin Doris, haven’t seen her yet, so nothing going on there either, but promises, promises. Got her a quality t-shirt in England. Wait for the picture next week! Something along the lines of this and Saturday Night Fever. If only it were true.

I did receive an encouraging SMS this evening though:

“If England win the World Cup, I’ll blow you for an hour.”

From some Chinese Doris here in HK. Sounds reasonable.

Been getting abusive SMS’s from a Thai girl I know here in HK. She works for a bank, not a girlie bar, and she’s into the rugby. She says England are a disgrace to rely on Wilkinson for all their points. My point that the reason he has so many chances to kick are due to the word class forwards we have fell on deaf ears. Still, she said I could shag her and she’d wear my England rugby shirt, so it’s not all bad.

Right, I’ve got 5998 work emails to delete.

back

I’m back. Set off yesterday at 11am GMT, landed at 1.50pm HKT, home by 2.10pm. You gotta love HK airport and transportation. Twenty hours, so I need a shower. Update soon.
