After that, had a couple of quick beers in LKF with a couple of lads from work. The police were out in force, setting up the barriers for tomorrow night - Halloween, when everyone dresses up and tramps around in circles and tries not to get crushed. I think I’ll give that a miss. No sign of any navy boys in LKF.

Doris met me at lunchtime to bring me some more food, spaghetti bolognese this time, or “stop bolonic” as she calls it. Something about Doris: she knows the tunes to nearly every song, but not always all the words. That doesn’t stop her singing though, she just makes up the words. Like this one, for example, from Santana’s song Maria Maria, she sings it at the top of her voice:

Eh? said I. Stop bolonic? It’s “stop the looting, stop the shooting” dear. So now she uses it as her word for spaghetti bolognese.

This afternoon, we have a little SMS conversation:

“How’s the stop bolonic?”
“Lovely, thanks”
“More lovely than me? It better not be!”
“At least the food lets me eat it”

She didn’t get it.

At lunchtime, when she brought me the grub, she sat there testing out her ringtones as I was talking to a friend. Not too loud, but foooking annoying. Reminded me of this:

Right, I’m off to watch The Italian Job.
