confirmed

Asked the concierge if the Aussie cricket team were staying at the hotel/apt complex. He said he couldn’t comment, but the smile gave it all away.

Here they are.

Link from the Gweilo. Overall we are apparently similar, unconsciously, he likes action, I like serenity. Right.

aussie observations

Just a few.

I like Sydney, could definitely live here.
The people are nice actually.
Pretty clean.
Many more girls in the office down here.
They all wear perfume.
The coins are way too big. I thought I was loaded but had about $8 in change.
The convenience stores love fridges of drinks. I counted a record of 21 fridges in one store, with a backup cool bucket next to the checkout, just in case.
Lots of Asians here.
The opera house is a bit cream, not that white.
The Aussie cricket team just moved into the same apartment complex that I’m staying in.
Cans of coke are 375ml, at least the ones I’ve seen.
People say “day-boo” when they are saying debut.
Taxis take credit cards.
Bars close without telling you.
One bar I went into had a handy betting shop in there too.
Most bars have loads of fruity’s, they’re called pokies here I think.
I’ve only been called a whinging Pom once.
The food halls are GREAT!
They call a stag night a “buck’s night

More later.

subscriber information module card saver

Can’t get your phone to connect to your PC via IR or Bluetooth?
Always losing your mobile phone and all those precious numbers?

Check this out, the sim card saver:

“Its use is easy and straightforward:

Insert the SIM card into the PS10 Phonebook Saver,
then press the SAVE button: the SIM card content is loaded and stored inside the PS10 saved memory.

When needed, because of GSM phone loss or theft, or GSM network change, restoring the phone list into the new SIM card is just a matter of seconds:

Insert the new SIM card inside the PS10 phonebook saver,
then press the RESTORE button: the saved content is loaded inside the SIM card.”

It’s made in China with the “greatest care and quality standards.”

I think I’ll be getting one, seeing as I can never get my IR link to work.

UPDATE: a simpler and cheaper way is pointed out by Conrad. Need to sweet-talk the sales girls though. The sharp mind of a lawyer vs the geekery of a geek.

sing this ….

…. “I only want one” … to the sound of “She Hates Me” by Puddle of Mud.

I definitely want one.

I was never a mobile geek until I came to HK. Only ever had two mobiles before, but since moving here, compunded by the fact that I keep losing and breaking them (lost 4, broke 2), I always seem to have/want the latest phone. Except now, I hate the phone I have now (it’s purple FFS!), but I bought it when I was drunk and pissed off as I’d just lost my T610 out on the lash a week after paying $900 to get the screen fixed, which I broke, er, out on the lash.

The reason I didn’t buy a new T610 was that I felt the screen was too delicate, so this one, an enhanced T610 with a clamshell design should protect the screen. Not available here yet though.
