David Beckham, the English team’s captian and talisman, is yet again ‘injured’ before a big match.

The match on the 11th October against Turkey is the group decider, that will determine who automatically qualifies for Euro 2004 and who has to go through the nail-biting play-offs.

I say yet again, as a big match without a Beckham injury scare is about as rare as hen’s teeth.

I think he’s had a dodgy groin and was ‘doubtful’ before the last three games, and remember the world football media’s focus on his metatarsal before last year’s world cup?

He’ll be fine. As usual. I’m not falling for it, and neither willl the Turkish players.
